25th November 2008 (Tuesday).
The night before, we had actually bought instant noodles (The one that contains real pieces of beef... so yummy!) to have for breakfast.
But as usual, the girls couldn't wake up on time to eat the noodles. Or rather, they took too long to prepare! And the guys, of course, had plenty of time to prepare and savour theirs...
Hot and steamy instant noodles for breakfast on a chilly morning... shiok!
![1](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3121/3138711134_54e0e48038.jpg)
And as usual, they also had lotsa time to camwhore while waiting for the girls! Heheh.
![1a](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3289/3138717270_8b48dce038.jpg)
Finally setting off!
![2](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3296/3137889521_6a75b7f710_m.jpg)
While on the way to the Ximen station, we dropped by the bakery to get some food... and took the chance to snap some photos! Justina and Eve were really excited coz' they were all geared up in their winter clothes to battle the cold.
The two girls in their jackets, scarves and boots =)
![3](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3252/3138722530_6462092938.jpg)
We finally reached Taipei City Hall station!
![4](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3231/3138726986_c49083cd58_m.jpg)
The besties
![5](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3245/3137901805_ff40589552_m.jpg)
Justina and Zhen showing off their winter gear...
![6](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3122/3137907223_e1854f2fb4.jpg)
We walked a very short distance to the bus stop nearby, to catch the free shuttle bus to Taipei 101.
First group shot of Day 3!
![7](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3109/3138736616_3880f30867.jpg)
And the bus arrives!
![8](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3250/3137908281_86d7fa7515_m.jpg)
Doing their usual camwhoring on the bus.
![9](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3213/3138737052_c1294287a3.jpg)
We headed into the shopping mall to grab some drinks... the guys chose the atas Starbucks!
![10](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3092/3138711636_5dc3c83eb4.jpg)
We then went out into the open... and boy was it cold!!! The winds were so strong and chilly! And to top it all off, it was drizzling by then. The guys and Justina were really cold, but Zhen and Eve were well-equipped with their winter jackets :P
But we weren't deterred!
Does this look familiar?
![11](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3222/3137883869_220fd4a4b8_m.jpg)
Spot the faces!
![12](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3084/3138712132_f20d286af4.jpg)
The guys...
![13](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3212/3138712696_8eec961f7f.jpg)
The girls...
![14](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3285/3137885119_e760bd746b.jpg)
It was tough getting a full shot of Taipei 101, coz' the building is just too tall!
![14a](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3240/3138713632_20d8bf8862.jpg)
No one forced them to pose like that... really. :P
![14b](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3222/3138714026_485195b9f9.jpg)
We then spotted some colourful walls nearby, and Eve demanded to take the following photos!
SPLAT!!!
![15](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3095/3138714780_a6426f6cbc.jpg)
Flies plastered against the wall? Haha well at least they're beautiful ones ;)
![16](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3107/3137886951_d975e06744.jpg)
The guys failing to imitate the girls' nice poses. Not coordinated lah!!! HAHAHA.
![17](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3211/3138715720_5763e66d2d.jpg)
FAIL again! Haha ok lah, this isn't that bad...
![18](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3219/3138716354_b56c38bcf1.jpg)
Star jump! (Photo taken by Zhen... nice hor?)
![19](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3250/3138716722_43ce13e0d6.jpg)
Another standard pose of our cameraman/director.
![20](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3289/3137890187_2060192ba2_m.jpg)
BOO!!!
![21](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3207/3138718608_9ea97c2d1e.jpg)
We're at 101!
![22](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3220/3137890867_e2173dbee6.jpg)
The 'behind-the-scenes' before we snap a photo. Hurhur.
![23](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3200/3137891509_867982c34f.jpg)
Can't remember why we were all so serious...
![24](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3222/3138720010_44a2f45573_m.jpg)
The girls and their 101 poses.
![25](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3293/3137892045_f252df2fa5.jpg)
The guys again. Why no 101?!?
![26](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3233/3138720922_94d6fff0bf.jpg)
We never get sick of jumping!!! Must keep warm, you see. :D
Yippeedoo!
![27](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3111/3138721204_a1cd7acf19.jpg)
The guys' jumps cannot make it except for Ron! Muahahahaha Guanwei don't dare to jump high for fear of exposing his belly again (please refer to Day 2's post), and LY looks like he was hit in the groin!
![28](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3224/3137893393_60ef0058f2.jpg)
Guess whose fingers?
![29](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3222/3138722136_92d599f69e_m.jpg)
Ours!
![30](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3103/3137894319_abff7cab09_m.jpg)
![31](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3134/3137894773_641e42526a_m.jpg)
我们到此一游!
![32](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3234/3137895317_d798731dc3.jpg)
Our parting shots at Taipei 101. Eve didn't even realise that the holes in these 3 golden coins made up the numbers 101. She's bad at visualing. :P
Another 101 pose! Haha.
![33](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3083/3138724390_119d92a52c.jpg)
Catching Justina as she falls!
![34](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3096/3137896083_76731de9a6_m.jpg)
Why did they become dwarves???
![35](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3253/3137896581_7daf844226.jpg)
The girls then started some serious camwhoring while walking to the next destination. They were snapping photos every other second lah! Haha all thanks to Zhen.
This was only the beginning...
![36](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3096/3138725554_464993ac13_m.jpg)
Winter sonata?
![37](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3208/3137897587_de186dc1e0_m.jpg)
There were plenty of this kinda walking shots.
![38](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3218/3137897835_93313311ff_m.jpg)
The two besties in love?
![39](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3220/3138726574_e2b8950559_m.jpg)
Who's that extra behind? :P
![40](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3097/3137898573_ed3a9a35cf_m.jpg)
Eve emerging out of the toilet with her 3 bodyguards behind. Haha!
![41](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3079/3138727336_b520a65cbc.jpg)
It didn't take long to reach the next location: New York New York.
Can't see the words.
![42](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3249/3137898975_c421944982_m.jpg)
New York New York in Taipei!
![43](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3223/3137899603_bfaf575657_m.jpg)
3 gals and a guy.
![44](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3124/3138728582_743794f31f_m.jpg)
The guys decided to emo at one corner.
![45](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3286/3137900661_e020f83447.jpg)
We then realised that the best spot to take a full shot of Taipei 101 was actually at New York New York!
To take this photo, we actually placed the camera on a bench outside Starbucks. Which meant we were facing this whole bunch of people sitting in the outdoor area, who were staring at us like we were crazy. :P
![46](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3108/3137900789_ffdea69e79.jpg)
But we didn't really care lah... anything to get a nice photo! (Even if it turns out dark...)
![47](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3104/3138729372_aa874bc456.jpg)
Statue of Liberty in Taipei? Heheh FOUR fakes ones!
![48](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3090/3137901189_b7d3ec0343.jpg)
A sweet shot of Ling Yang and Zhen.
![49](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3253/3137901431_a378c8bf5e.jpg)
We then proceeded to Xin Guang San Yue, which is a high-class shopping centre much like Singapore's Paragon. Didn't do much there except use the toilet!
![50](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3256/3137902045_361081de22.jpg)
More photos again while on the way to the metro station.
The girls were highhhhh.
![51](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3266/3137902573_53e903db5e.jpg)
Nice background right?
![52](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3078/3137902867_b5defb9010_m.jpg)
We made a short stopover enroute to Taipei City Hall station, coz' we passed by this little park called Song Shou Gong Yuan.
Eve and Zhen helping the guys take photos...
![53](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3211/3137903893_f4df87baa1.jpg)
The product:
![55](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3043/3137904647_013c5b9432.jpg)
Taking their revenge on our Director? Heheh
![56](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3294/3137904955_8d175d33fb.jpg)
The girls' turn!
![54](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3100/3137904253_05d974b79f.jpg)
An artistic group shot! Very nice!!!
![57](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3258/3138733844_0ea4ec4f1f.jpg)
I guess you should know by know the lengths we went to in order to capture the perfect shots. Just take a look at the photo above. Ron and Guanwei had to climb up and balance themselves dangerously on the narrow wall, while the rest of us had to angle ourselves properly. Not easy ok!!!
This sign totally cracked us up, coz' the water was only an inch deep!!!
![58](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3097/3138734860_1e216e8633.jpg)
The girls were at it again... SIGHHHH.
![59](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3231/3138735536_191f965721_m.jpg)
Justina touched the tip of Taipei 101! (Photo taken by Eve. Genius! Muahahahahaha)
![60](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3268/3137907397_46b88dcbab_m.jpg)
We then took the train over to Houshanpi station...
![1](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3225/3138741402_5d83ed5c59_m.jpg)
And headed straight for lunch at Hu Xu Zhang Ru Rou Fan (胡须张濡肉饭)! All thanks to Eve's friend again for recommending this place.
![2](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3292/3137918221_55c18997d9_m.jpg)
We were all starving coz' it was almost 3pm by then and we hadn't eaten lunch! So desperate for food that we kept calling out for 胡须张 and were so happy when we found 'him'.
![3](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3134/3137922705_6d36d305dd_m.jpg)
There's always time for a photo though.
![4](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3197/3138756034_99c6099e64_m.jpg)
This was taken after we ordered our food! Couldn't take it le.
![5](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3267/3137930817_5d19858025.jpg)
Food, glorious food!
![6](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3201/3138759994_0caea8252a_m.jpg)
The obligatory pose-with-food photos:
![7](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3076/3138760568_10f76f2558_m.jpg)
![8](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3100/3137932395_b7b0cc0d03_m.jpg)
![9](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3267/3137932903_d181c47bbf_m.jpg)
And we tucked in heartily into our medium bowls of ru rou fan!!!
20 minutes later, we were done. *burp*
Look at how much we've eaten!
![10](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3102/3137913461_ff1198acb7.jpg)
The guys ate A LOT ok!!!
![11](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3093/3137913903_55586d2397.jpg)
It was time to start shopping at Wu Fen Pu.
The guys and girls separated to complete their own shopping agenda, and we arranged to meet at 6plus.
The guys all ready to conquer Wufenpu?
![12](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3263/3138742916_4a46057d8e.jpg)
The girls stopped for drinks first, and Eve was happy to get her fill of zhen zhu nai cha (bubble milk tea) for the day! :P
![13](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3283/3137914549_6765eb2e34_m.jpg)
Although Wu Fen Pu is popular for wholesales and having a large variety of clothes, the girls didn't really enjoy shopping there coz' the alleys were quite stuffy and the clothes that were on display just weren't attractive.
After ONLY 1.5 hours of shopping there, they were tired and bored already! Sighhhh definitely bought a lot more at Shih Lin Night Market the night before.
Zhen and Eve resting their tired feet...
![14](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3114/3138743810_13a704d9f0_m.jpg)
As the girls were sitting there, they spotted the guys! How coincidental right? In such a huge place, we could actually bump into each other! They were bored too, so we decided to move on to our next destination.
Bye Wufenpu!
![15](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3224/3138744338_2e52277b0e.jpg)
On the way, we stopped at Ba Fang Yun Ji for some guo tie.
![16](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3246/3138744784_1e9f5618cd_m.jpg)
Guanwei and Eve.
![17](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3116/3138745344_3c9153edd0_m.jpg)
A rather majestic-looking temple we saw while walking to...
![18](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3263/3137917393_c67c69a2f3.jpg)
... Raohe Night Market!
![19](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3102/3138746418_8fc4017ba6.jpg)
All smiles despite the aches all over.
![20](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3249/3138747266_7c9e856d98.jpg)
The macho dudes.
![21](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3195/3138747586_17afb4de27.jpg)
The guys started their feasting once again.
![22](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3259/3138747860_a55e7b098c.jpg)
Thankfully, Raohe is a relatively small night market with nothing that interesting (Other than this yellow poodle they saw in a pet shop! OMG it was sooooo fat yet adorable! And definitely a special colour). We just walked all the way till the end and emerged from the other entrance, unsure of where we were.
Justina taking a rest... her boots were really killing her!
![23](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3077/3137919509_13022b7b9c.jpg)
We finally found our way back, but couldn't resist taking a short break at the train station.
Look at our sian faces. Really very tired and pain ok!
![24](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3286/3138749020_7a7f27576e.jpg)
As much as we couldn't and didn't want to walk, we mustered all our energy and soldiered on. We were going to make it back in one piece, no matter what it took! Haha.
Though the girls were really gone by then (Justina and Eve from their boots, Zhen from lugging her heavy winter jacket around), the guys were SURPRISINGLY still in the mood to shoot this video:
Watch Ling Yang teleporting from one place to another! Hahaha...
After an arduous walk, we finally reached Houshanpi station again!!! Could have really cried then. But we didn't. :P
By then, there were only two survivors who could still joke and laugh on the train - Zhen and Eve! Everyone else was sleeping...
![25](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3114/3137920699_93809862d1_m.jpg)
It was another dreadful walk back to our hotel, and we just collapsed on our beds the moment we entered our rooms! But we were still hungry for more. LITERALLY hungry! Justina wasn't feeling too well coz' of the weather and the pain from her boots, so she chose to stay in the hotel. The other five of us headed to Ximending after s short rest, for supper!!!
The guys took this photo before leaving their room... you'll never guess what the significance of this huang li su (pineapple tart) is to Ronnie. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA. We know can already.
![26](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3200/3138750104_7b34c9a395_m.jpg)
Zhen and Eve were crossing the road when they saw the guys taking a photo, and they really ran across the road just to get their heads in!
![27](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3092/3137921651_715800cc2f.jpg)
First dish of Day 3's supper: Some fried food...
![28](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3221/3138750518_865ec17edf_m.jpg)
![29](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3096/3138750718_83000a207a_m.jpg)
![30](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3134/3137922933_180b93c2d6_m.jpg)
![31](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3098/3138751926_97c153973d_m.jpg)
![32](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3253/3138752144_d2722c49f9_m.jpg)
The guys waiting for their grilled sotong.
![33](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3243/3138752432_c41833800e.jpg)
Zhen was so sad that the stall didn't have what she wanted... lamb meat!
![34](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3108/3137924293_526484272b.jpg)
Finally getting a taste of the roti-prata-with-filling.
![35](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3083/3137924599_b80edd0fc1.jpg)
Sausage!
![36](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3234/3138753660_6b09b63886.jpg)
I guess one of the most memorable events of the Taipei trip was witnessing how the roadside vendors would "close shop" and push their stalls away in double-quick time whenever the police arrived... which is like, once every 15-30 minutes? Haha it was really quite comical! And we struck up a conversation with one of the vendors, who revealed that if they get caught, the fine is a hefty SGD$60-70. (can't remember exact amount...)
The five of us entered one of the little shops to have oyster omelette!
Mirror shot of the late-night supper warriors!
![37](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3130/3138754050_45ed135238.jpg)
And that's when the multi-shot madness started:
First, of all of us.
![38](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3234/3137926235_2cdf191747.jpg)
Then, a proper photo of the girls.
![39](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3241/3137926729_95f35fcb41_m.jpg)
And more multi-shots!
![40](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3096/3137928597_d73e44e1fe.jpg)
The guys' turn!
![41](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3256/3137929439_c2ba3be239.jpg)
A satisfied Eve with her second milk tea of the day! Yay!
![42](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3091/3137929643_e8b7f7bb67_m.jpg)
And we returned to Ah Zong Mian Xian again. Eve opted out coz' she's really not a fan of mee sua.
Meet the four challengers!
![43](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3288/3138759000_ab738612e6.jpg)
The hot bowl of vermicelli was a great companion to the cold night (the weather got progressively colder each day we were there lor!), and we returned to our hotel rooms at midnight feeling really full and warm. =)
(Click here to read about Day 4 of our trip, which was jam-packed with activities from LeoFoo Chun themepark, to Grand Hotel, to Toilet Restaurant, and ending with clubbing at Luxy! WOOT! Super happening. :P )
